In the Star Trekfictional universe, the Intrepid class is a new variety of starship employed by Starfleet. Ships of this class are among the most advanced in the fleet, including such features as a maximum safe speed of warp 9.975, a non-destructive warp drive, incorporation of livingneurons into the computer system and an Emergency Medical Hologram system. One distinctive feature of this class is the capacity to land on planets' surface while under Blue Alert conditions. The Intrepid class was likely designed and put into production in the 2360's and 2370s.
Auxiliary vessels: Various shuttlecraft and/or other vessels in two shuttlebays in the engineering hull with one Aeroshuttle, embedded in the ventral area of the saucer. They include two Type 8 and two Type 9 personnel shuttlecraft as well as two Type 15 shuttlepods.
Named for the USS Intrepid , the starship Intrepid was the pathfinder of its class. The Intrepid was part of Battle Group Omega sent to intercept the Reman warship Scimitar circa stardate 56844.9 in 2379.
Commanded by Captain Kathryn Janeway, the starship Voyager was transported to the Delta Quadrant of the galaxy by an alien entity known as the Caretaker while on mission to apprehend a missing Maquis ship circa stardate 48315.6. Returned to Earth circa stardate 54973.4 with the aid of Vice Admiral Kathryn Janeway from 2404 and a Borgtranswarp conduit. Fate uncertain.
