Intrepid class starship

In the Star Trek fictional universe, the Intrepid class is a new variety of starship employed by Starfleet. Ships of this class are among the most advanced in the fleet, including such features as a maximum safe speed of warp 9.975, a non-destructive warp drive, incorporation of living neurons into the computer system and an Emergency Medical Hologram system. One distinctive feature of this class is the capacity to land on planets' surface while under Blue Alert conditions. The Intrepid class was likely designed and put into production in the 2360's and 2370s.
