Described by well-known hippie leader Stephen Gaskin as "the working class poor just trying to have good time", Starwood is the largest annual gathering east of the Mississippi which brings together the adherents of a diverse range of non-mainstream, mostly pagan, religions as well as free-thinkers, scientists, environmentalists, and other members of the growing American counterculture.
