Algebra

Algebra (from the Arabic "al-jabr" meaning "reunion", "connection" or "completion") is a branch of mathematics which may be defined as a generalization and extension of arithmetic. The process of "balancing and restoration" is important in algebra. It is the process of equaling both sides of any given equation. Basically, "whatever you do to one side of the equation, you do to the other". Also in Algebra: the distributive law which is used to properly factor out and solve equations.
